another cup of coffee?

  • Mood: Hope
How do you move to another country? I am seriously thinking about moving to London, finding a wardrobe job somewhere or even freelance costume-making (running a quaint costume shop) or something… what is involved? How difficult is it? How hard is it to find a nice little house with a sewing area?
How can I import my cats?
How do I get all of my things there? Freight? Is there a green card? Healthcare?

Is it smoke in a bottle?

Considering how things are currently, I would say it's hard but not impossible. Definitely something to dream about and hope to make it a reality.

Do you have LJ? I took a quick look there, and these three communities might be of interest to you.

You could ask some info at an English embassy.

Apparently, the place to start would be chatting to the British Embassy - I asked around and apparently they're lovely and really helpful! Just give them a call, no pressure, no commitment, just ask for the information so you know what is and isn't possible.

Contact the British Embassy in Washington D.C. at 1-202-588-7800

Just remember - you've already got a home waiting for you! Complete with sewing room, props workshop with lovely murals... :D

Apparently animals need to be in something or other for fourteen days before they can travel, but I can't think of the word of the thing they need to be in. Someone else will probably tell you. As for moving country I imagine it's the same as moving house but a bit further. You're in the US, right? At least you wouldn't have to learn a different language. And London's cool. Otherwise I don't know anything else that can help. But good luck if you do. :)

Quarantine? It's usually 6 months from US - UK, since we don't have rabies and a lot of other illnesses on our little island. Makes it a lot safer for our kitties to venture outside, but it does mean bringing cats in from out of the country is tough. Well - easy to do - but the cats have to be in a quarantine centre, no visitors, for 6 months. Not easy on them.

Quarantine, thanks. I was a bit drunk when I posted that, sorry. Quarantine's what I was on about.
